Restaurant Review: Millenium Da Pippo

Restaurant Review: Millenium Da Pippo
"Genuine Italian cuisine with Sicilian home specialities. Millenium Da Pippo, the Sicilian restaurant brings all the warmth and earthy provincial charm of Sicily to Budapest. Like many other cuisines, Italian is very regional. In Sicily, where there isn’t even a real winter, people eat lots of fish and put raisins, orange juice and almonds in their food.

Atmosphere:
In my Motherland by the seaside in Siracusa I learnt from my Grandmother how to prepare fish food with full heart and passion.

I can not bring here the Sicilian sunshine and sea , but with our authentic Italian cuisine and warm services we give you a piece of Sicily here in Buapest – says Pippo, the Sicilian owner.

Honestly, I think Sicilian food is very light, healthy and interesting.

If all you need is a great cup of Italian coffee or a small snack or a substantial Sunday lunch - chances are Da Pippo will have just what you are looking for.

With its extensive menu selection and cozy atmosphere, you will feel like you slipped away to Sicily. Come and see this one of a kind restaurant, which has a charming location in Andrássy street Rózsa street corner.

Who to take:
During our visit there was a strong tempest, so probably many tourists, passengers found a shelter in Da Pippo. The restaurant was full, and kids with families dominated the back part of the place enjoying their favourite pizzas – just like in Italy.

Waiters have a very –easy going behaviour, that I found sometimes a little bit exaggerated. The owner is a real Juve fan, and during our stay he watched the Sunday afternoon football game for the big enjoyment of the male guests.
Ideal place for having just an Italian coffee, for family get –together programs and to have dinner with friends enjoying good Italian and Sicilian wines

What we ate:

Vegetarian plate - This was a typical Italian starter with meditarrenean grilled flavours. From the various grilled vegetables and mozzarella I liked the artichoke the most, which was very mild and tasteful. The bread that they offered was not very fresh, but they facelifted with toasting.

Carpaccio classico - There are very few places where you can eat fresh, really red colour carpaccio. Da Pippo is definitely one of them. Was fantastic and also the rucola and mushroom garnishing was just superb.

Escalope with white wine and pepper sauce - The escalope was very tender, tasteful and well-prepared but I was expecting a little bit more spice in it.

Spinach with garlic - Very delicate, gorgeous Mediterranean garnishing. Was the peak point of the Sunday lunch.
