"Both the EU-backed Nabucco and the Russian South Stream oil pipelines will be built, because Europe needs additional transport facilities, chairman-CEO of MOL Zsolt Hernádi said at a press conference in Vienna.Preparations for Nabucco, as led by Austrian oil company OMV are progressing well, and are ahead of the South Stream, Hernádi added. Nabucco will only become a reality if gas is found to feed it “because an empty pipeline is a rather costly pleasure,” Hernádi added. Sources in Iran could be considered in the medium term, he revealed.
MOL wants to purchase 100 filling stations in Austria this year, in addition to its existing 34, Hernádi confirmed. MOL has contacted OMV for this purpose, but as yet has not received an answer. MOL is aiming for a 5-10% market share in Austria.
The Hungarian parliament has established a case committee for helping the Nabucco project."
