"Hungarian fuels group MOL will slash the gross wholesale list price of gasoline and diesel HUF 8 and HUF 4 per litre as of Wednesday, respectively, Portfolio.hu has learned on Monday. While the reduction is no surprise, its rate may be, as the price of diesel has dropped more than that of gasoline on the world market.Following the price cuts on Wednesday, MOL will sell a litre of gasoline to retailers for HUF 269.4, while the gross wholesale list price of diesel will be lowered to HUF 287.9.
While retailers follow their own pricing models, drivers can expect to pay about HUF 8 and HUF 4 less for a litre of gasoline and diesel as of Wednesday, respectively. This means that the pump price of former fuel will be around HUF 284and a litre of diesel will be around HUF 303.
The price of gasoline has been declining gradually in the past four weeks, first by HUF 8 and then by another HUF 2 and HUF 5. The price of diesel was cut twice in the past month, once by HUF 4 a litre three weeks ago and then by HUF 2 last week.
In view of last week's market processes, the move comes as no surprise, as the latest data show the price of gasoline down 15%, while that of diesel plunged by 18% in dollar terms, while in forint terms, the decline was only 7.3% and 10.7%, respectively. "
