New Car Sales Dwindle 1.4% yr/yr In Hungary in H1
"New car sales in Hungary dropped by 1.4% year on year in the first half of 2008, according to data published by the Association of Hungarian Vehicle Importers (MGE) on Monday.


While Suzuki remained on top of the game with a 17% market share, its slice of the market was 0.9 ppt smaller than in H1 last year. Moreover, it sold 6.5% fewer cars in the first half than in the same period last year.
 
Opel came second with a market share of 11.6%, up from 11.3% in Jan-June 2007, and Ford got the bronze medal again with market share of 11.1%, becoming the best performer in this respect, as its market share grew from 10% in H1 2007. Skoda's market share dropped the most in a year, 1.2ppts to 7.1%. 

The largest yr/yr increase in sales was observed at Mazda, Subaru and Hyundai - 51.9%, 46.8% and 41.7%, respectively, - while in terms of the number of cars sold none of them made it to the Top10. 

Ssangyong suffered the greatest decline in sales (-59.4% yr/yr), followed by Chrysler (-35.9%) and Land-Rover (-25%)."
