"While early elections are currently the top issue on the agenda for Hungary's leading opposition force Fidesz, parliamentary group leader Tibor Navracsics also made a statement yesterday that Hungary should re-evaluate its EU membership. Navracsics said many Hungarians believe 5 years of EU membership failed to deliver any benefits, therefore “a lot of things should be reconsidered", wire service MTI reported.Speaking at the same event, Fidesz Vice President Ildikó Pelcz Gáll said support for EU membership has declined sharply over the past five years (from 67% in 2004 to 31% in 2008), citizens have no faith in the EU and believe “Hungary has clearly emerged as a loser as a result of EU membership". Pelcz Gáll cited economic problems such as recession, unemployment, and slow improvement in the standard of life."
