Self-Driving Car Test Track To Start Operating Next Summer
A 42 billion forint (EUR 137.7m) test track for self-driving cars the government is building in Zalaegerszeg, in western Hungary, could start operating by next summer, the government commissioner for the project said at the site.

The government recently injected 15 billion forints into the track’s project company to support the completion of the first phase of the investment, said László Palkovics.

Hungary’s government announced the test track, the only one of its kind in a 500- km radius, in the spring of last year.

Economy Minister Mihály Varga said earlier that the test track could add 0.1% to Hungary’s GDP in the short term and another 0.3% for every 100 billion forints in vehicle industry investments it attracts.
