|
Symphonicity Concert where he is going to play Roxanne, a Next To You, az Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, az Every Breath You Take, az Englishman In New York, a Fragile, a Russians, az If I Ever Lose My Faith In You, a Fields Of Gold vagy a Desert Rose.“The 58-year-old Sting began his world tour on 2 June in Vancouver, Canada, the North American section of which will last until the end of July. In autumn the singer will perform in Europe, and he will arrive at the Hungarian capital with his orchestra after Vienna. The concerts include Sting’s greatest hits with symphonic instrumentation, and the singer-composer is accompanied by the 45-member London Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra” reported the concert’s organiser, Live Nation.
This will be the musician’s sixth concert in Budapest. His first Hungarian performance dates back to 1988 during the Amnesty International tour, when he played together with Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen and Tracy Chapman in the Népstadion (former name of the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena). In 2004 he performed for 250,000 people within the framework of the free Contact concert in the capital’s Felvonulási Square; his last concert in Hungary was in 2006 in the Papp László Sports Arena. There were some rumours this year that he might perform during the event series of Europe’s Cultural Capital in Pécs, but this plan could not be realised.
The title of the concert series is Symphonicities, which is a word-play on the title of the Police’s Grammy Award-winning album from 1983, Synchronicitys. In addition to the arena concerts, the European tour will visit legendary concert venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Teatro Verdi in Florence, and the Sage Hall in Newcastle, in the artist’s home town.
During his 35-year career in the music industry, Sting (born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) has written several top hits, won numerous awards and sold nearly a hundred million records. Between 1977 and 1983 he was the singer and bassist in the Police, one of the most significant new wave bands, which also included guitarist Andy Summer and drummer Stewart Copeland. He started his solo career in 1984. The first result of his first journey to the world of classical music was the record “Songs from the Labyrinth” in 2006, the music of which was based on the lute.
During the Sting concert in November in Budapest, the audience will hear songs with symphonic instrumentation, such as Roxanne, Next To You, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Every Breath You Take, Englishman In New York, Fragile, Russians, If I Ever Lose My Faith In You, Fields Of Gold and Desert Rose."
