Now showing: Surf's Up

Now showing: Surf's Up
"The story follows the relationship between Cody, a young, up-and-coming surfer who thinks that becoming a champion will bring him the respect he feels he deserves, and Big Z, the onetime legendary surfer who everybody thinks has passed on, but in fact has been living alone as a hermit for the past decade."

Movie type: Animated Action Comedy - The story is for both kids and adults. It never gets too silly or crazy. It also has a great life's lesson about following your dreams.

Director: Chris Buck, Ash Brannon

Script: Lisa Addario, Christian Darren, Don Rhymer, Joe Syracuse

Starring: Shia LaBeouf (Voice of Cody Maverick), Jeff Bridges (Voice of Big Z), Zooey Deschanel (Voice of Lani Aliikai)
Jon Heder (Voice of Chicken Joe), James Woods (Voice of Reggie Belafonte)

Length: 1 hr. 25 min.

Reviews:

“Above Average It's not exactly awash in cleverness, but it is good clean fun for the family. Though Cody's character has some rather annoyingly bratty moments, adults will get a kick out of Bridges' recognizable laid-back old surfer.“USA Today

”Good The animation is top-notch, from the water sequences, which are notoriously difficult to render but look fantastic here, to the meticulously scratched and faded "archival footage" of surfing's penguin pioneers.” TV Guide Online

”Good The makers of 'Surf's Up,' a penguin-ized, animated send-up of every yawn-provoking spawn of 'The Endless Summer,' have opted to own the inherent tedium, beauty and, yes, preciousness of their hybrid genre.” Newsday
