"With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman has been making headway against local crime...until a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker unleashes a fresh reign of chaos across Gotham City.To stop this devious new menace--Batman's most personal and vicious enemy yet--he will have to use every high-tech weapon in his arsenal and confront everything he believes."
Movie type: Action Drama - While this is a film centering around the popular comic book hero Batman, this is not a film for children, even less so than the previous film, Batman Begins. While not explicitly bloody, the film is violent with disturbing images, and the tone is very dark and downbeat, not to mention the pace is sometimes slow and there are not too many huge action sequences. This is definitely more of a dark crime drama about a costumed hero than what most would typically expect from a "comic book"/"superhero" movie, so parents have been warned.
Director: Christopher Nolan
Script: Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer, Jonathan Nolan, Bob Kane
Starring: Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Heath Ledger (Joker), Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent)
Length: 2 hr. 32 min.
Reviews:
“Excellent ...The Dark Knight, a film so impressive in every significant facet that it makes one wonder why it took so long for the genre to reach this high level.” Berardinelli, Internet Critic
“Excellent Because these actors and others are so powerful, and because the movie does not allow its spectacular special effects to upstage the humans, we’re surprised how deeply the drama affects us.” Roger Ebert
“Excellent The Dark Knight is a more thrilling, intelligent, morally complex and masterfully crafted film than any summer blockbuster in recent years. It's probably the best superhero movie to date.” USA Today
“Excellent ...But most importantly, he gives his top-notch cast plenty of room to breathe and inhabit their characters.” TV Guide Online
