U.S. Ambassador Presented The Active Citizenship Award At Sziget Festival In Budapest |
|
U.S. Ambassador to Hungary Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis presented the Active Citizenship Award to the NGO Ability Park at the Sziget Festival on August 9, 2012. During a visit to the Ability Park tent, Ambassador Kounalakis praised the organization’s efforts to raise awareness for the rights of people with disabilities, including through the outreach they are conducting at the Sziget festival. While there, the Ambassador engaged in some of the interactive opportunities that allow people to better understand the challenges faced by disabled people.
Ability Park is an organization that showcases the everyday challenges of people with disabilities through interactive activities. Their mission is to change the way people view disabilities, minorities and even the elderly. The non-profit organization organizes educational programs for Hungarian schools and employment training on the special needs of people with disabilities for corporations.
