"Due to huge demand", the Hungarian State Opera is adding more than 100 tickets to the total available for a performance by Plácido Domingo on February 6, said general director Szilveszter Ókovács. As a result, more than 1,200 spectators can enjoy the performance as the Opera House stages an evening of songs celebrating William Shakespeare. Moreover, the new tickets will be cheaper than the original tickets. more »

Secret Surveillance In Hungary Unlawful Without Judicial ApprovalThe European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Hungary’s Counter Terrorism Center (TEK) may not conduct secret surveillance of private citizens without first obtaining judicial approval. Currently, only the approval of the Minister of Justice is required for TEK to conduct such surveillance. The decision marks the latest in a series of European court rulings striking down laws adopted by the Fidesz-KDNP-controlled parliament under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
