It’s been a good couple of years since I've set foot on The Island of Freedom, but the Sziget 2017 festival line-up is one of the most exciting in a long time for many @expatintheloop. “Strangled”, a film based on the real story of a murder in post-1956 Hungary, won Best Feature Film at the closing gala of the Hungarian Film Week on Sunday. The film is based on the story of the bloody murder of a woman in 1957 and the investigation obstructed by the Communist regime in postrevolution Hungary.
International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Now On Until 13 November

This is the only human rights documentary film festival in Hungary, organized yearly since 2004. Verzio aims to promote open society, democratic values, rule-of-law, freedom of expression, political and cultural pluralism as well as to expose abuse and human rights violations throughout the world by presenting quality, creative documentaries.
