The opening ceremony of the 17th Budapest Short Film Festival will take place on August 31 at 7 pm in the Verdi Hall of the Italian Cultural Institute, after the ceremony there will be a reception and a concert by György Ferenczi and the Első Psti Rackák.
The award-winning works of 2020 will be screened in the upstairs Fellini Hall.

Born 13 May 1942, he was a successful fencer in his youth, going on to win two Olympic gold medals. Later he became a politician, and served as President of Hungary from 2010 until his resignation in 2012. Today he is one of the 100 or so active members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has met Tamayo Murakawa, Japan’s minister in charge of the Olympics. In a video posted on Facebook after the meeting in Japan, Szijjártó said preparations for the Olympics were now more complex than ever, adding the world was “rooting” for its success.

While Hungary is blessed with a broad palette of indigenous white grape varieties, there are much slimmer pickings when it comes to black (red) grapes, although Kadarka and Kékfrankos are capable of providing plenty of pleasure to the palate.
