World Swimming Championships In Hungary Discussed By PM Orbán & FINA Leaders

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with leaders of the International Swimming Federation FINA in Parliament on Monday, Orbán’s press chief said. They discussed preparations for the 2017 World Junior Swimming Championships and the World Aquatics Championships to be hosted four years later, Bertalan Havasi said.

A record number of 20,750 runners participated in the 29th Vivicittá Run for the City on Sunday, organisers said. The organiser Budapest Sports Office said participants included runners from 770 communities in Hungary as well as more than 1,000 foreigners representing 57 countries from as far afield as Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Pakistan, Vietnam and Venezuela.

Lawmakers earmarked 12 billion forints (EUR 39.9m) for expanding and upgrading 26 stadiums in Hungary late on Monday. Used by first and second-division soccer teams, 22 stadiums concerned are located in the countryside and four in Budapest.
