Some 15,000 tons of disposable plastic must be replaced with other, more environmentally friendly products every year in Hungary based on the government decree in force from July 1, the National Packaging and Material Handling Association (Csaosz) informed state news agency MTI on Wednesday.

Hungary is banning a large number of single-use plastics from the start of July, state secretary for developing the circular economy Attila Steiner just confirmed. The ban will apply to plastic cotton swabs, eating utensils, plates, straws, drink mixers and more.

Unlike Prague, Budapest is not known for being home to many public parks. So András Györfi took matters in his own hands and created a self-proclaimed Tree Commando to make the Hungarian capital just a little bit greener. Having already planted up to 250 trees personally, András believes that everyone should do their part to help save the environment. He certainly has.
