I’ve wanted to blog about our Queen’s Birthday Party for a little while now. But first we got very busy in the Embassy with preparations for the European Council and then I went down to the Balaton for a couple of days. Now things are a little more back to normal and I’m catching up.

Ambassador Kounalakis attended a memorial ceremony honoring Mihaly Kovats on May 11, 2012 in Karcag. Colonel Kovats, a native of Karcag, left Hungary to fight in the American Revolutionary War. He wrote a letter to Benjamin Franklin offering his services and then recruited, trained and led the first U.S. cavalry unit into battle. He died on May 11, 1779, when he led a cavalry charge against the ...

Memorial concerts and chamber programs to mark the occasion of the concert given by Ludwig van Beethoven on 7th May 1800 at the Buda Castle Theater. The kick-off concert features prize winning pianist, György Vukán, who opens the celebration with a jazz improvisation session at the Buda City Hall.
Holocaust Memorial March In Budapest On Sunday

"This year’s March for Life procession in tribute to victims of the Holocaust will start from the Pest side of the Szabadság bridge at 4 p.m., on Sunday, April 15. The March for Life Foundation organised the first such event in 2002, when 400-500 people turned out. An estimated 10,000 took part in last year’s commemoration.
