Foreigners Given Medical Treatment Illegally In Budapest
"Foreign patients were illegally given medical treatment by abusing and forging social insurance cards for years at the State Health Centre’s VIP internal medicine department, Magyar Nemzet reported on Saturday. Serbian and Ukrainian nationals reportedly from the world of international organised crime were also given medical treatment at the Budapest hospital.

Hospital management first did not want to issue a statement but later admitted the results of an internal inquiry launched last year.

The hospital did not report the matter to police, but Budapest Police launched an investigation following a tip-off from the Military Security Office.

Police say existing Hungarian social insurance numbers were abused without the knowledge of their owners.

The doctor who had run the department in question left the hospital of her own volition at the start of the inquiry, and the head nurse went on sick leave. Police have questioned both of them and an interpreter as suspects."
