Swim Across Balaton For Fair Trade! - By Treehugger Dan
"Last year Kevin Jackson and Treehugger Dan did the 5.2km Balaton Swim for charity, the beneficiary being the Hungarian Fair Trade Campaign of local NGO Vedegylet. The charity swim was so successful that many said that we should put together a Fair Trade Team to do the swim in August, 2010.

So here is the call out! If you would like to join the effort and do either the 3.8 (the bay) or 5.2km swim in August to support Fair Trade, please send me an email by clicking here and we will put you on the list. Your responsibility is to start training, and later in the year to contact all your friends and colleagues and ask them to pledge sponsorship.

Some people like to promise 1 forint/meter, others a certain amount if you complete the entire swim. It does not matter if it is 100 forint or 5000, it is all good. In June or July you could send a message out like:

If you feel like sponsoring me, please send a note to [email address] with the following: If [your name] completes complete the 5.4km/3.8km Balaton Swim, I pledge___________ Huf.

It is then up to you to collect the pledges and it can be donated to the Fair Trade Campaign of Vedegylet. We are working to set up an application on the internet like Justgiving (UK) that makes the collection of these pledges much easier."
