Flight Disruptions In Parts Of Europe
"The ash cloud from the volcanic eruption in Iceland is continuing to disrupt European and transatlantic flights.

ccording to Eurocontrol, the European air traffic agency, flights have been affected in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Air passengers should contact their airline for the latest information before travelling.

You can find more information on the air traffic situation in Europe at the Eurocontrol website.

According to Eurocontrol, transatlantic flights continue to be affected by the ash cloud. Flights are required to make significant rerouting to avoid the area of ash cloud coverage. This is leading to some delays.

Aviation authorities in the UK and Ireland are monitoring the movements of the ash cloud.

The high density area of the volcanic ash cloud is now lying to the north-west of the UK and as a result, there are currently no restrictions within UK airspace.

In Ireland, Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Ireland West (Knock), Donegal, Sligo, Galway, Kerry and Waterford Airports will remain open until 1900 today.

See the Civil Aviation Authority and NATS website for latest UK airspace restrictions updates and the Irish Aviation Authority for latest Irish airspace restrictions update.

For further advice and information relating to flight disruption, including health, insurance, visas and passenger rights, see our volcanic ash travel advice pages."
