"Starbucks, the world's largest coffee shop chain, has announced on Thursday that it will open its first store in Hungary by the end of the year. A local blog featured on news portal index.hu has come up with a more precise date: 17 May, WestEnd City Centre, Budapest.

Starbucks has announced on Thursday that it will open its first Hungarian store in Budapest mall WestEnd City Center in 2010. A local blogger learned that the opening day will be 17 May.

In 2008, AmRest Coffee opened the first Starbucks store in the Czech Republic and operates ten locations in the country. AmRest is also Starbucks joint-venture partner for the Polish and Hungarian markets. It has entered Poland in the spring of 2009. There were more than 16,700 Starbucks stores (8,850 company-operated stores and 7,856 licensed stores) in 27 countries throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa, as of the end of 2009.

AmRest Holdings SE is the largest independent restaurant operator in Central and Eastern Europe. Since 1993 it has been building a portfolio of well recognized power brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Starbucks and Applebee's (US) based on solid franchise and joint venture partnerships."
