How To Continue? Pécs After The Cultural Capital Programme
"The South Transdanubian Chamber of Architecture organises an international conference with the cooperation of renowned experts in Pécs to discuss such issues like filling of the cultural infrastructure built in the framework of the ECoC programmes with events, or continuing the sustainable and culture based urban development.

The cultural title year has always been considered as the beginning of something way greater than the organisation of uncountable programmes in one year; it is only the start of a long-term cultural and economic process. The central question of the conference is: what models and methods shall be followed to continue the process that has started in Pécs.

Zoltán Bence, the content developer of the Architecture and Context series of programmes told us that the topic of the conference could not be any more actual than now. This is the time when the building of one of Hungary's greatest cultural infrastructure is coming to an end, but the question is still open: what will set the new capacities in motion?

The conference will take a look into and investigate the adaptability of cultural urban development projects of all other parts of the world. Between 24 and 25 September internationally renowned experts will gather and discuss these issues at the PTE Faculty of Engineering. All experts are the colleagues of prestigious foreign research institutions, their speciality is city development, and what might be even more important is that they are engage in investigating the differences between Eastern and Western Europe.

The programme coordinator added: it is inevitable from the point of urban development to be able to react to the challenges of our times, and to conduct the development projects along clearly set and drafted aims. The South Transdanubian Chamber will give some ideas for the city in connection to the sustainable urban development based on the experience of the conference."
