Alstom Metro Carriage Appeal Rejected In Hungary
"The national transport authority NKH yesterday rejected an appeal from Alstom against its refusal to issue a permit for the French manufacturer’s subway carriages to run on Budapest’s second or ‘red’ metro line as well as the future fourth line.

The French company may turn to court after the NKH objected that the braking system of the carriages does not meet Hungarian standards.

Alstom has pointed out that the carriages meet the most stringent European and global security standards. Alstom Transport has 30 days to turn to court.

So far half of the Ft 65 billion contracted sum has been paid to Alstom. It was earlier reported that if the contract for the 37 metro carriages falls through, Hungary will have to repay all of the EU funds that are subsidising the project."
