The Basis Sculptors’ Association consists of ten sculptor artists from Pécs. Each time they put their creations and thoughts together – for example within the framework of an exhibition –, a new quality and a new spectacle is born.

Their group was founded for practical reasons as well: the association tries to represent the interests of its members, and promote their sculptures to the largest audience possible. Many of them research the opportunities for cooperation between architecture and sculptural arts, and they are convinced that the two professions are always capable of creating something new together.

Through architecture, sculptures can get closer to people, or rather become involved in their everyday lives, be it the interior of a building or the so called urban, open squares in the city. This is how a sculpture becomes a living piece of art. People contemplating the technical and practical process of creating a sculpture more often than is the case with a painting or a handicraft object; this way a personal relationship develops between people and sculptures.

The artists in the exhibition hope that relationships of this kind will evolve.
