Hungarian PM Orban Opens Public Service University
"The fact that Hungary is founding a new university amidst numerous external and internal problems shows that “we do have a future, as finally we believe in ourselves, and shall therefore have the strength to fight a way out of difficulties,” Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared in a speech at the inaugural ceremony of the national Public Service University last week.

The university was founded last March 16 by merging the Zrinyi Miklos Defence University, the Police Officers College and the faculty of economics of Budapest’s Corvinus University.

Orban spoke of a strong, modern, just, respectable state which creates a firm foundation for succeeding in life on one’s merits.

In such a state the public interest comes before private interests, he said, and those who view service to the homeland and the public as their profession can be educated at a university established in response to crisis.

The efforts of the past 18 months have opened the door to opportunities and “we have reached the point of consolidating the new constitutional order,” Orban said."
