Invitation: Jazz Showcase, Palace Of Arts Budapest, 13-15 January 2012
"The Palace of Arts first hosted the Jazz Showcase and Talent Exchange in 2008. The festival gives a world-renowned and rightly acclaimed young generation of Hungarian jazz performers the chance to present themselves to noted jazz experts from Europe and the United States, broadening their knowledge and, in some cases, gaining recording and concert touring opportunities.

The first Jazz Showcase was followed by similar events each year. The fifth and latest showcase, now traditionally held at the beginning of the year, takes place from 13th to 15th January, 2012. As clear proof of the success of the event, a good number of the musicians who entered the profession by performing on one of the stages at the Palace of Arts for a Jazz Showcase afternoon concert, have since become recognised musicians even outside of Hungary. They return now, several years later, as the main attractions at the Jazz Showcase and Talent Exchange.

Although the main goal of the Jazz Showcase is to introduce and encourage new talents, the performances on the various stages during the three days of this year’s event will no longer be limited to the “new generation”. Each evening, established musicians will be on the stage.

It can be proudly said that the Jazz Showcase has outgrown itself. For the first time in the history of the series, an evening concert will take place in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall. Also for the first time this year, the Talent Exchange steps out of Hungary by presenting outstanding new talents from the Visegrád Four countries.
