Police Looking Into Budapest Transport Company's Contracts
"Police raided BKV headquarters on Monday evening looking for documents related to former leaders of the Budapest public transport company it was announced. Detectives are investigating six contracts related to former CEO Istvan Kocsis, his former deputy Ferenc Olti and two other former senior BKV officials.

Mayor Istvan Tarlos noted that the search involves cases from the previous administration.

Kocsis concluded unusual contracts with two offshore companies in late 2008 shortly after his appointment, news wesite Index reported.

However, the subsequent studies were mostly copied from Central Statistics Office reports, the government’s euro convergence plan and from an Index article on the economic crisis.

Under one contract, Cyprus-based Dandy Trading was to be paid €78,500 to assess the impact of foreign currency fluctuations.

In the other, Swiss-registered Everest Capital was to be paid €81,900 to assess the BKV's borrowing options in light of the financial crisis."
