Bumper Summer Traffic For Budapest As Ryanir Announce Record Advanced Sales
"Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (14th Feb) announced record advance bookings on its 32 routes to/from Budapest, which are 25% ahead of expected and look set to deliver a bumper year for Budapest Airport. Ryanair expects to grow to over 2.4m passengers at Budapest in 2012, sustaining over 2,400 local jobs and it attributed its advance bookings to the enormous publicity received after announcing Budapest as its 51st (and 1st Hungarian) base on 3rd Feb with the base starting this Friday (17th Feb).

While thanking the media for its help in spreading the word about Ryanair’s lowest fares Ryanair also released details of a €1m advertising and promotional campaign to ensure continued success with a programme of activity which will include:

• €500,000 in seat sale promotions
• €250,000 in print advertising
• €200,000 in broadcast advertising
• €50,000 in online advertising

Ryanair continues to work with former Malev workers who lost their jobs and will assess over 100 pilots in Ryanair flight simulators in the coming two weeks.

To celebrate its record Budapest bookings, Ryanair released 1m seats with fares from €9.99/ 2,499HUF for travel across 1,000 European routes in April. These seats must be booked on www.ryanair.com before midnight (24:00hrs) Thursday (16th Feb). Ryanair also reaffirmed its commitment that its lowest fares will be at least 50% those of Wizzair’s, with at least double the availability of Wizzair’s promotional fares.

Ryanair’s Michael Cawley said:

“Ryanair is pleased to announce record advance bookings on our 32 Budapest routes as bookings are well ahead of expected with strong advance bookings for summer 2012 thanks to the media interest in our new Budapest base. To ensure bookings remain strong we are now investing over €1m in sales and marketing with seat sale promotions and advertising.

To celebrate the record bookings on our 32 Budapest routes Ryanair is releasing 1 million seats with fares from €9.99 for travel across Europe in April. Since seats at these crazy low prices will be snapped up quickly, we urge passengers to book them immediately on www.ryanair.com. Ryanair’s lowest fares will continue to be at least 50% lower than Wizzair’s, with at least double the availability of Wizzair’s promotional prices. ”
