Urgent Ft 1bn Subsidy For Hugnarian State Opera

The cabinet has redirected Ft 1.4 billion to provide a special subsidy for the State Opera, as it faces a funding crisis. Government commissioner for the Opera Szilveszter Ókovács said without the subsidy artists could not be contracted in the second half of the year, and the Opera House could not reopen in the autumn.
A lesser portion of the sum may be spent on salaries, Ft 841 million on procurements and Ft 112 million on minor renovation projects.
