The International Day Against Homphobia & Transphobia In Hungary
On 17 May Her Majesty’s Ambassador Jonathan Knott commemorated the International Day Against Homphobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) by signing a contract of support with the Hungarian Rainbow Mission Foundation.

Ambassador Knott welcomed members of the Rainbow Mission Foundation to assure them of the British Embassy’s continuous support for human rights, including LGBT equality. On behalf of the Embassy he pledged to sponsor the cultural events of the 17th Budapest Pride.

The British Government’s action plan "Advancing Transgender Equality – a plan for action" was published in December 2011 and guides the Embassy’s work on advancing LGBT equality. The British Embassy in Budapest has long been an active supporter of the LGBT community.

As part of the 16th Budapest Pride the Embassy hosted the Second LGBT Business and Human Rights Forum while in March 2012 Ambassador Knott opened, in Hungarian, the Second Human Rights Movie Day, which featured the award winning Hungarian documentary Secret Years.
