Hungary Rejects EU Red Star Decision
Justice Minister Tibor Navracsics has declared that Hungary disagrees with a European court verdict and will not pay up in the case of János Fratanolo. The Hungarian government had fined Fratanolo, former president of the Hungarian Workers Party, for wearing the red star in 2006.

The European Court of Justice in Strasbourg awarded him compensation, but Navracsics refuses to accept the verdict, declaring that the red star is not only the symbol of the international labour movement but also a symbol of tyranny, Magyar Hírlap reports.

International lawyer Ádám Gellért told the daily that the compensation must be paid, or the Council of Europe could launch proceedings to force its payment.
