British Chargé d’Affaires Opens Olympic Exhibition In Jewish Museum In Budapest
On 13 August Chargé d’Affairs Theresa Bubbear co-opened the Olympic exhibition of the Hungarian Jewish Museum. In the year of the London Olympic Games, the exhibition honours the achievements of both known and less known former Hungarian Jewish Olympic champions. In her speech Mrs Bubbear congratulated for the achievements of the former champions, the relatives of many took part in the opening.

She also highlighted that they have had a major contribution to Hungary placing 10 on the all-time Olympic medals list. Senior sport journalist Iván Hegyi also delivered an opening speech bringing relevant positive examples form Olympic history.

The British Embassy in Budapest is a dedicated and active supporter of minority related projects. In March 2012 the Embassy organised the Second Human Rights Movie Day which featured a Hungarians Jewish documentary and a roundtable discussion on the messages of the film.

In April the Embassy hosted and Ambassador Jonathan Knott opened the Hungarian book launch of selected Hungarian poems on the Holocaust.
