International Roma Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony In Budapest, 2 August 2012

At 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, an International Roma Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony will be held in Budapest at the Roma Holocaust Memorial statue at Nehru part in the 9th District. Video of the event last year (in Hungarian):
International Roma Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed each year on August 2. Some 3,000 Roma were murdered on the night of August 2-3, 1944, when the “Gypsy” camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau was liquidated on orders from Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler.
