New Fares Favour Trains Over Buses In Hungary
Inter-city coach fares will be more expensive from September, if train service is available on the same route, in order to make train tickets more attractive, the National Development Ministry announced. The first routes affected are those linking Győr, Szombathely, Nyíregyháza and Szeged to Budapest.

With bus tickets more expensive, more passengers will opt for IC and EC trains, the ministry argued.

The ministry will check the changes in the number of passengers after six months and act accordingly.
