New Flights, Traffic Intensifying At Budapest Airport
New flights will be launched at Budapest Airport during the winter schedule period, whilst some airlines are increasing the frequency of their existing flights already during the fall. The summer travel season is still under way at Budapest Airport, but the airlines and the airport operator are already looking ahead to the fall/winter schedule.

Swiss carrier SkyWork Airlines is increasing the frequency of its flights to Budapest from two to three a week. The airline, which focuses primarily on business travelers and tourists, launched its direct Bern-Budapest flight nearly a year ago, and it seems to have fulfilled expectations as SkyWork is adding a third frequency. As of 4 September, the flight will not only commute on Thursdays and Saturdays, but also on Tuesdays. The Swiss carrier’s aircraft will arrive in Budapest at 13:25 and depart for the Swiss capital at 13:55 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, whilst on Saturday the arrival and departure times are 19:25 and 19:55 respectively.

SkyWork operates a fleet of seven aircraft, consisting of three Canadian-made Bombardier Dash-8 Q400s and four German-manufactured Dornier 328-110 turboprop aircraft. The Budapest flight is usually flown with the 31-seater Dorniers. In addition to Bern, Budapest Airport also offers flights to Zürich and Geneva in Switzerland.

The other new feature during the winter schedule will be the Russian carrier Ural Airlines, which will commute between Yekaterinburg and Budapest initially once a week, using Airbus A 320 aircraft. The Ural Airlines flight will arrive on Wednesdays at 16:35 from the Russian metropolis located on the eastern side of the Ural Mountains, and will depart at 17:40.Ural Airlines will fly the route with a 160-seater Airbus A 320, offering 14 business class seats. The first flight is expected to arrive in Budapest on 3 October 2012.

Ural Airlines currently operates a fleet of 15 Airbus 320 and 321 type aircraft from its base in Yekaterinburg, both to domestic (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Irkutsk, Vladivostok and Krasnodar) and foreign destinations (Barcelona, Sofia, Istanbul and Rome). In 2010 it transported 1.8 million passengers. It is represented in Hungary by Robinson Tours (Budapest, District V, Sas u. 1.).
