Homes In Budapest Evacuated Due To WWII Bomb
The discovery of a 500kg World War II bomb at the foot of the Északi railway bridge linking Újpest to Buda’s Római párt prompted authorities to close the bridge yesterday and to order local residents to evacuate their homes before the device is defused today.

Some 8,000 residents will have to leave 3,500 homes by 8 a.m., after which police will check every dwelling in the area.

Shipping traffic was restricted on the Danube after the bomb was found on Wednesday.

Bomb disposal experts said the American device is still armed.
