Invitation: Edvin Marton & Vienna Strauss Orchestra, Budapest Congress Centre, 25 December
The original Vienna Strauss Orchestra was formed by none other than Mr. Johann Strauss himself in 1825 to perform his compositions. Masterpieces like “The Blue Danube” Waltz, “The Vienna Blood” Waltz, “Tritsch-Tratsch” Polka, The Radetzky March and many many more were created by the magnificent Strauss Dynasty Foundation.

Following Strauss' death in 1845, the orchestra has been conducted by different conductors, but the tradition of his original band continues through to our time as the current Vienna Strauss Orchestra still performs in his honour .

The Orchestra ranges in size from 17 to 40 musicians, depending on the venue, and plays pieces by Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Important European artists have been guests on stage with theVienna Strauss Orchestra, including star tenor Luciano Pavarotti and many others. The VSO tours regularly and has performed for rapt audiences in Paris, Berlin, Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Tokyo, México, Brussels and Salzburg.

From December 2009, the Hungarian violinist, Edvin Marton became the group’s conductor and solo violinist.

What was the reason why the Vienna Strauss Orchestra adjured just this talented musician?

Marton, who is composer of the Olympic-and World-Champion figure skater , Evgeny Plushenko, won Emmy-Award in 2006 and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, plays Paganini’s original Stradivarius violin since winning the Golden Violin Award.

He performed with celebrities like Seal, Zucchero, Lou Bega or Supertramp, jumped on stage with Gloria Gaynor, etc.

Joining to the group, Edvin Marton brought not only a beautiful tone but his own energetic and passionate style to the orchestra.

With his contribution, the performance is not only a usual classical concert but a really entertaining show with definitely original sound and instrumentation.

In concert with singers and ballet dancers from the Vienna Opera, the VSO brings the stunning compositions of Strauss and Mozart to life, continuing to please concert-goers 180 years after its inception.
