Sold Out: Mumford & Sons Live In Budapest, 8 March
One of the biggest music sensations of the last years is in Budapest: Mumford & Sons live in Pecsa Music Hall on March 8th, 2013

When Marcus Mumford formed Mumford & Sons with his friends in December 2007, it seemed that there's only one more band on the "West London folk scene". But it cleared up in a short period that they could reach much more in their career.

In their first year they performed in small clubs, but their audience were convinced so much that they needed promoting their gigs in bigger venues without any record label deal.

All the four members of the band are multi-instrumentalists: Marcus Mumford on guitar, drums and mandolin, Ben Lovett on keyboards, accordion and drums, Winston Marshall onbanjo, dobro and guitar, and Ted Dwane on string bass, drums, and guitar.

"It's not folk music really... Well, some of it is, but it's certainly not on its general scene. More rock music and energy as you can feel during our live performances." - Marcus Mumford said in an interview.

Their self-financed debut album, Sigh No More was released in 2009 and has gone four times platinum in the UK, and twice platinum in the US within a few months. The band received two Grammy Award nominations - one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song -, and also won the ARIA Music Award and the Brit Award.

“We wanted to do something unashamed,” says Ben Lovett. “We’re confident and happy to be where we are as a band — everything that’s happened with us has exceeded expectations, and it’s all been a surprise, it’s all much bigger than what we were prepared for. So when we came to recording this record we had a choice: to shy away from that, or to realise that people dig what we’re doing, and make something robust, with that energy.”

Well, Mumford & Sons did it again. Their second album, Babel was released at the end of this September and debuted at number 1 in the UK and US charts, and it's the fastest selling album of the year, which has now sold in excess of 1 million copies.

The band's forthcoming UK tour sould out in an hour - including two O2 Arenas in London. Now, Mumford & Sons is stepping out of the English territorries and has announced their first European tour next spring, where Budapest is one of their tour stops on March 8th.

Even though they may not possess a huge Hungarian fanbase yet, we recommend this gig from one of the most exciting new bands, as from what can be heard, they will not disappoint.

Tickets for Budapest are on pre-sale first for Fan Club on November 7th and 8th, and on sale from November 9th in the Ticketpro network and via www.livenation.hu .
