Cinema City Opens First 4DX Unit In Budapest
Cinema City opened its first 4DX facility in one of the 14 rooms of its West End multiplex last week, CEO Moshe Greidinger told Vilaggazdasag. The technology features environmental effects, such as vibrations, odours and humidity, outside the standard video and audio.

The cost of transforming a cinema to 4DX is about €1 million, Greidinger added.

Cinema City’s decision on future 4DX cinemas will depend on the reception of the new technology.

The film distributor, present in seven countries in the region, saw ticket sales in Hungary rise to 7 million in 2012, up from 6.7 million in 2011, generating an estimated €40 million in revenues.

In Hungary as a whole, movie ticket sales fell from 9.5 million in 2011 to 9.4 million last year, but revenues grew from Ft 11.4 billion to Ft 11.9 billion.
