Foreign Visitors To Hungary Up In January
Hungary received 9.6% more foreign tourists in January, who spent 8.3% more nights in paid accommodation than in the same month of last year, the Central Statistics Office reports. There was a 3.1% rise in the number of domestic tourists, who spent 1.4% more guest nights in hotels. visitors from the UK rose 49.2%, read on for more details.

Overall, the number of guests was up 6.2%, year-on-year, and the number of guest nights was 4.9% higher.

Fewer tourists came from Germany, Austria and Russia, but visitors from the UK rose 49.2% and from Italy, 17.8%.

The average room occupancy was 33%, the same as one year earlier.

Gross revenues of hotels were up 3.6% to Ft 15 billion in January, as average gross room revenue gained 1.3% to Ft 14,425.
