Habitat For Humanity Hungary Requests Your 1%
Every year, from February to late May, hundreds of NGOs compete for Hungarian tax payers’ 1%. Tax payers did not designate their 1%s in the value of HUF 3.77 billion. This amount could be great help for non-profits in Hungary.

Many of those who do not live with this opportunity probably do not know much about the organizations’ work, and might be not sure if their 1% supported the cause of their choice indeed. Habitat for Humanity Hungary has joined a group of Ethical Fundraising organizations to promote the culture of donating and the transparency of utilization. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that has been working in Hungary since 1996. The Hungarian organization is well-known for its renovation projects involving Hungarian, expat and international volunteer teams. In 2013 volunteer teams will help 3 families living in the Vác area to make their home warmer and cheaper by installing external insulation, attic insulation and insulating windows.

Habitat Hungary also runs household budget and energy efficiency trainings to enable low-income families to reduce their costs and energy consumption.

1.2 million people are affected by housing poverty in Hungary. Hundreds of thousands of them could be helped with a more efficient social rental housing system. Habitat for Humanity Hungary runs an advocacy program to advocate for social rental agencies in Hungary.

If you have not designated your 1%, please support Habitat for Humanity Hungary’s work.
