Hungary At Risk Of Losing Ft 600bn In EU Funds
The cabinet on Wednesday will draw up a plan to prevent the potential loss of Ft 600 billion in EU funds due to ministry inefficiencies, Prime Minister’s Office chief János Lázár told reporters on Monday.

Lázár, who took charge of the National Development Agency (NFÜ) from August 1, said the EU is withholding funds from 13 of 15 projects, citing various irregularities.

He said it is expected that the EU will release the funds, part of the Ft 8.2 billion available for the 2007-13 EU budget period, after Hungary pays a fine of Ft 50-100 billion, and that an agreement is intended to be reached by September 15.
