EU Postpones Budapest Metro 4 Deadline
The EU has informally told Hungary that it would accept completion of the EU-subsidised metro 4 project by the end of 2016, a year later than agreed, Népszabadság has learnt. It is still questionable whether the new line will have the number of passengers necessary to justify the EU subsidy, and some or all of it may have to be repaid, the daily adds.

The city had been planning to launch a congestion fee to encourage drivers to use the metro but will not do so before the elections for political reasons, Népszabadság adds. In addition, completion of the Õrmezõ transport hub is not achievable at this point, even within the extended deadline, the daily warns.
