Britannica Budapest Students Among Top Scorers In Tournament At Yale
Last weekend three students of Britannica International School visited the prestigious US Ivy League School, the Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut where they participated in the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions.

Britannica team members became the overall 12th most successful team at the academic competition, Zsófia Kapitány, Valentin Kapitány and Balázs Somogyi competed against 300 other students coming from international schools worldwide representing 20 different countries. In addition, a member of the delegation, Valentin Kapitány also won the 5th place for the Scholars' Bowl Special Area category. Honourable mention were also given to the students.

These students qualified for the event through superior performance at the recent World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Dubai. As World Scholar’s Cup participants they explore different curricular aspects of a global theme – in 2013 a World in Motion - and then participating in debates, discussions, quiz bowls and other academic challenges regarding subjects from History and Literature to Science and Current affairs. However, despite technically being a competition, The World Scholar's Cup focuses far more on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant to today and the future.

Congratulations to the students who again gained a priceless reputation for the School and proved that Britannica students do work at a very high academic level, their skills are competitive with the other students coming from international schools worldwide. The personal experience the students acquired made them even more confident about the route they would follow to enter top universities like Yale.

The School would like to express its gratitude to the sponsors, Turkish Airlines and FirstMed for their generousity in supporting the World Scholar's Cup Team through the whole competiton season.
