Hungary's PM Orbán Sets Out Tasks In Mortgage Question
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spelled out the ways in which the supreme court should clarify questions about foreign-currency mortgages, defended the flat tax, and again attacked large multinational companies in his bi-weekly radio interview, taped in Japan on Thursday and broadcast on Friday morning.

The Kúria must decide whether banks or borrowers should cover the losses incurred on mortgages as the forint weakened.

While stating that he cannot influence the court, Orbán expressed hope that the judges would “do justice to the people”.

On a second point, he said the Kúria has to rule on whether banks had any legal right to raise the interest rates on mortgages unilaterally.
