Market Traders In Budapest Defy Eviction Attempt
A tense stand-off developed at the Négy Tigris (Four Tigers) market in Józsefváros on Thursday when MÁV officials attempted to shut the complex down and evict all of the traders on the premises. Security guards hired by Komondor, which leases the area from the state railway company, refused to yield ground.

MÁV, owner of the property, says the rent contract with Komondor expired on Thursday, while Komondor argues that MÁV does not have court approval for an eviction.

MÁV has threatened to cut off the market’s electricity and water supplies from today.
