Invitation: A Festival Of Nine Lessons & Carols, Budapest, 13 December
The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was first held on Christmas Eve 1918. It was planned by Eric Milner-White, who at the age of thirty-four had just been appointed Dean of King's College, after experience as an army chaplain which had convinced him that the Church of England needed more imaginative worship.

A revision of the Order of Service was made in 1919, and from that date the service has always begun with the hymn Once in Royal David's City. First broadcast in 1928, there are today millions of listeners worldwide.

Join with members of Saint Columba’s Scottish Presbyterian Church and Saint Margaret’s Anglican Episcopal Church and their friends as they celebrate a Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols. All are most welcome.

Our music will be provided by the famed Gabrieli Choir of Budapest under the direction of Richárd Sólyom. They will be joined by the Exsultate Boys’ Choir of Budapest.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to introduce friends and neighbours to this enriching and stirring service in the days before Christmas itself. By the way, there is no sermon at Lessons & Carols. A free-will offering is asked. The service lasts just over one hour.

There will be a reception after the service.

Date and time: Friday evening, December 13, at 6:00pm
Venue: Saint Columba’s, Vörösmarty utca 51

How to get there: Take Metró 1 to the Vörösmarty utca stop
