VAT Allegations Taken Off Hungarian Parliament’s Agenda
The Fidesz majority removed the question of VAT avoidance accusations from the agenda of Parliament’s national security committee meeting on Tuesday. András Horváth, the former tax official behind the allegations that tax officials are tacitly allowing large companies to evade VAT payments, was present, along with tax office vice-president Árpád Varga, and national police chief Károly Papp.

Fidesz committee member Máté Kocsis proposed that the case be taken off the agenda, saying it affects several ongoing criminal proceedings.

In reply, Socialist Tamás Harangozó listed several examples when committees had discussed ongoing criminal proceedings.

Governing-party MPs are creating the impression that they have something to cover up, observed Jobbik’s Árpád Mirkóczki.
