Hungarians Rainy-Day Savers
Income replacement and pension supplements are high on the list of priorities for Hungarians who regularly make savings or investments, according to a survey by market research company Nielsen.

About 13% of Hungarians who regularly make savings or investments said they did so to create a cushion in the event they lost their job or experienced a fall in income.

The same percentage said they made savings to top up their eventual pensions. About 12% were saving to buy a home, 8% were preparing for the birth of a child, 7% wanted to buy a car, take a vacation, make a luxury purchase and wanted to invest in their own education, 6% wanted to start their own business, 5% wanted to buy a better home and 2% wanted to acquire a second home.
