Rare Disease Day In Hungary, Budapest, 22 February
Patient organisations in Hungary have engaged in Rare Disease Day since its launch in 2008, aiming to use the day for advocacy purposes as well as for raising awareness amongst the general public. This has been achieved over the years by workshops, letter-writing campaigns, art contests and consultations with government officials to discuss rare diseases policies. The First Lady of Hungary and a Hungarian actress personally involved themselves in past campaigns, helping to attract mass media attention.

The Hungarian National Alliance, Hungarian Federation of People with Rare and Congenital Diseases (HUFERDIS) was founded in 2006 and is a network of 37 patient organisations active in the field of rare diseases.

They can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find their contact information at the bottom of this page.
