See What Happened @ St. Patrick’s Day In Budapest
Nothing can dampen the Irish spirits on a slightly cool, overcast Sunday, especially after winning the Six Nations the previous day! As the sounds of the many bands began, with the balloons blowing in the wind, you knew you were in for another fabulous day out.

This is always a great family day and by the end of the parade, you are ready for a drop of the dark stuff. Starting as usual at Szabadság tér and finishing this time at ‘Instant’, the spirits were high again.

And pardon the pun, in an instant everyone was in the party mood, once we had landed at Instant. There were 12-15 bands playing Irish and Irish inspired music, including the well-known band FIRKIN. The bands were playing in various rooms and generated a sense of being on the Emerald Isle.

This day has become known as turning Budapest green & Irish for the day, which undoubtedly it did. And what is really wonderful is that you don’t have to be Irish to join, as many locals enjoy the spirit and flavor of the day…late into the night.
